Practice now โ€” freeThe Spelling exercise

Who it is used with

Spelling works on the same word knowledge used to speak and read. Spelling practice is often used with:

Start in Tiles mode on Level 1: only the letters of the word, no extras.

How to use it

A picture appears

One blank for each letter. Tap ๐Ÿ”ˆ or the picture to hear the word.

Spell it

Tap the letter tiles in order, or type the word. Then tap Check.

Next word

Wrong letters go back so you can try again. After 10 words the set is done.

Modes

With a free account, the 1 ยท 2 strip above the picture switches the mode. Both modes are free on Level 1.

Tiles

The letters are given. Tap them into the blanks in order. Tap a placed letter to send it back.

Typing

Type the whole word yourself, then press Enter or tap Check.

Ways to get through it

When a letter will not come, there is help on the card.

Hint

Works one blank at a time: the next blank pulses, then the right letter goes in. Then on to the next blank.

Practice with me

In Tiles mode: the exercise says the word, plays each sound, lights up each letter, and places it if you wait. Tap a tile any time to take over.

Levels

Level 1 is free and gives only the word's letters. With Premium, Levels 2 to 4 add extra letters that do not belong.

Topics

Tap the topic button to spell words from your real life.

The method behind it

Copy and Recall Treatment (CART). A writing approach speech-language pathologists use: see the word, copy it, then recall it on your own. Tiles is the copy step; Typing is the recall step.
