Free Spelling Practice for Aphasia

Spelling practice helps more than spelling. Building a word letter by letter — with tiles or by typing — strengthens the same word knowledge you use to speak and read. Many people find a word they can spell is a word they can say.

This exercise is informed by Copy and Recall Treatment (CART), an evidence-based writing approach: see the word, copy it, then recall it on your own. Tiles mode gives you the letters to arrange; Typing mode takes the training wheels off. Hints and audio are always there, and it is free in the browser.

Read the full guide to Copy and Recall Treatment, or why spelling practice helps aphasia. Warm up with letter practice first if single letters still feel shaky. Read the Spelling guide — how it works and who it is used with.
